My cousin, Ross Gerring, MD at in Australia, knows I love a good story of businesses using Social Media to best effect. Read here of his experience with a local Vet surgery when he sadly lost his much-loved cat last week.

As I demonstrated when Bath Ales targetted me with similar love and appreciation for a comment I’d made on Twitter about their great beer, being aware of and reacting to praise easily turns someone who is already a happy customer into a genuine advocate of your business. It is so much better to really win over the hearts of those happy customers and have them recommending and referring you left, right and centre, than to work hard to change opinion of those who are not on board.

And as this flurry of blogs and attention demonstrates, a good word travels fast round our tiny planet!
